Principles

The goal of the Catalytic Design System is to incorporate elements from various previous product designs to create a familiar look and feel, while remaining visually distinct.

Simple

  • To provide a simple reusable metaphors that allows the user to get work done in a visually compelling way.
  • To utilize a flexible and modular system of cards that allows a user to find and start a Pushbot quickly.
  • To use limited one or two-color icons associated with each interaction, to help the user better locate and recall functions and to help them better understand each card’s purpose at a glance.

Modern

  • To use flattened, more modern twists on core elements, e.g. buttons
  • To utilize typography as a core design tenet.
  • To use animation to create a fluid and app-like experience.

Minimal

  • To use ample white space around elements to provide focus and simplicity to traditionally complex tables and elements.
  • To use simple primary colors with desaturated tones, to give the user the impression of simplicity and approachability.

Powerful

  • To provide an experience that feels snappy and responsive to each interaction.

Helpful

  • To help guide users in every interaction so they never feel lost or unsure what to do.
